Learning Objectives:

  • Learners will explore the use of ultrasound technology in the acute care setting.
  • Learners will identify the various opportunities and scenarios to utilize point-of-care ultrasound in the emergency department.
  • Learners will develop the understanding and skills needed to utilize point-of-care ultrasound in their clinical practice of medicine.
  • Learners will be able to improve care in the acute/emergent care setting by using point-of-care ultrasound appropriately.
  • Learners will achieve improved patient outcomes in acute care and emergent care settings with awareness and understanding of point-of-care ultrasound and its uses.

Accreditation Statement:  Missouri Association of Osteopathic Physicians and Surgeons (MAOPS) is accredited by the American Osteopathic Association to provide osteopathic continuing medical education for physicians. Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine

Dr. Robert Arnce is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at Kansas City University. He is also an attending physician at the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He has practiced emergency medicine for 30 years. Dr. Arnce received his board certification in Emergency Medicine from the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) in 1999. He graduated from William Jewell College, Liberty, Missouri, and the Mayo Medical School, Rochester, Minnesota. He completed his residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky, and received his fellowship from the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) in 1999.

He is actively involved in Sepsis, Covid-19, and Pneumonia Research. Other areas of interest include Point-Of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Tick-borne illness, Emergency Department Practice Management, and quality improvement.
