Liver Disease Management: From Fat to MASH to Cirrhosis


Learning Objectives:
• 1) Learners will be able to describe the prevalence, risk factors, and underlying mechanisms associated with Chronic Hepatitis C, Alcohol Associated Liver Disease, Metabolic dysfunction Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), and Cirrhosis, facilitating a comprehensive understanding of these conditions
• 2) Learners will be able to utilize appropriate diagnostic methods, including laboratory tests, imaging studies, and biopsy, to accurately diagnose chronic liver diseases and distinguish between different types of liver diseases.
• 3) Learners will be able to outline and apply the latest evidence-based treatment protocols for managing chronic liver diseases, including pharmacological therapies, lifestyle modifications, and monitoring approaches tailored to individual patient needs.
• 4) Learners will develop the skills to recognize and manage common complications of chronic liver diseases, such as hepatic encephalopathy and portal hypertension and cACLD, as well as associated comorbid conditions like diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
• 5) Learners will appreciate the importance of a multidisciplinary care model, understanding the roles of various healthcare professionals (e.g., hepatologists, nutritionists, addiction specialists).
• 6) Learners will gain strategies for effective patient education regarding liver disease management, emphasizing the importance of adherence to treatment regimens, lifestyle modifications, and regular follow-up appointments to improve overall health outcomes.
