This presentation will review nutrition and weight management as it relates to disease prevention. Dr. Ratay will discuss the latest guidelines & evidence-based practices for weight management and nutrition counseling.
Learning Objectives:
• Learners will analyze and help their patients understand the role of nutrition and weight management in overall health and disease prevention

Dr. Susan Ratay completed her osteopathic medical training at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania, in 2012. She then completed her residency in Family Medicine/OMT at University Hospitals Regional Medical Center in Richmond Heights, Ohio, in 2015. Dr. Ratay has a master’s degree in Adolescent Science Education from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and Medical Education from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine in Erie, Pennsylvania. She also completed a fellowship in Integrative Medicine and Obesity Medicine at the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Ratay has practiced full-time family medicine in NE Ohio for 9 years. She is a family physician at University Hospitals Concord Health Center in Concord Township, Ohio. Dr. Ratay is board-certified in Family Medicine and OMT by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians. In addition, she is board-certified in Obesity Medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine and Integrative Medicine by the American Board of Integrative Medicine.
Dr. Ratay, in recent years, has been a consultant and Medical Director for a registered dietician-owned and managed medical weight loss clinic known as Weight Management Partners in Beachwood, Ohio. She medically clears patients for OptiFast and prescription weight loss medications. Dr. Ratay sits on several obesity committees in her hospital system, is a member of the Ohio Obesity Society, and is the current President of the Cleveland Academy of Osteopathic Medicine, which reports to the Ohio Osteopathic Association.
Dr. Ratay’s medical interests include preventative & community medicine, medical education, cardiometabolic disease/obesity, women’s health, dermatology, osteopathic manipulative medicine, and integrative medicine.
Dr. Ratay enjoys spending time with her children, attending Cleveland sporting events & concerts, running, peloton, the outdoors, gardening, boating, cooking, baking, drawing, painting, crafts, and party planning in her free time.
